What this policy covers

This Privacy Policy applies to AlignMyRead. It explains what information we collect when you sign in, create a reader profile, rate books, leave comments, build shelves, or browse the community.

Information we collect

• Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account ID, email address, and name. We use these to create your AlignMyRead account and to show your Public Display Name where you choose to be visible.
• Profile information. You may add a handle, Public Display Name, bio, avatar, and a "currently reading" note. You can also choose whether your profile is public or private.
• Reader activity. We store your ratings, comments, shelves, and follows so the community features can work.
• Technical information. Our hosting provider logs standard request data (such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps) needed to operate and secure the service.

Google Sign-In

AlignMyRead uses Google Sign-In to authenticate users. We do not receive or store your Google password. Google shares limited profile information with us according to your Google account settings. You can review and manage Google's data practices in your Google Account settings.

How we use your information

• To provide and maintain your account and the community features.
• To display your Public Display Name, ratings, comments, and public shelves to other readers.
• To enforce our content rules and keep the community safe.
• To respond to support requests and legal obligations.

Public vs. private

You control whether your profile is public or private in Settings. Public profiles can be viewed by other signed-in readers. Custom shelves remain private regardless of your profile setting. Comments and ratings you post in public areas of the site are visible to others.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics to understand how readers use the site and to improve the experience. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes usage data according to its own privacy policy. Essential cookies are also used to keep you signed in and to protect security.

Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers needed to operate the site (such as our cloud hosting and authentication services) and when required by law. Anything you choose to make public on your profile may be visible to other users.

Data retention

We keep your account information and activity for as long as your account exists. Accounts are not deleted unless you delete your account yourself or request that we do so.

Your choices and rights

• Update your profile, display name, bio, and privacy setting anytime in Settings.
• Request a copy of your data or ask us to delete your account by emailing us.
• Manage Google data through your Google Account.
